BENJAMIN ACKER, RWPA #S11936. He was born in the Manor of Philips (now called Mount Pleasant) in Westchester County, New York on August 12th, 1763. He served as a private in Colonel Undy Hayes’ Quartermasters’ Department in 1780 and 1781. His file contains depositions by William Davis and Abraham Hitchcock.

HENRY ACKER, RWPA #R16. He was born in Dutchess County, New York in 1751. He served as a private in Captain Jonathan Piercy’s Company of Colonel Albert Paulding’s Regiment of Levies. He was taken prisoner while out from Peekskill on a scout along with Henry Huff. His escaped from imprisonment on Long Island by stealing a boat. 

JACOB ACKER, RWPA #W2046. He served as a private in Captain George Comb’s Company of the South End Regiment of the Westchester County Militia [Colonel James Hammond’s Regiment]. He was wounded in the left temple and taken prisoner by British Dragoons [Light Horsemen] while out scouting under Ensign Thomas Boyce on March 3rd, 1782 near Morriston, Westchester County, New York. His file contains a deposition by Ensign Thomas Boyce which gives the details of his wounding and capture.

JACOB ACKER, RWPA #W16802. He was baptized in the Dutch Reformed Church of Tarrytown, New York on April 25th, 1758. He married in the home of Justice Solomon Sherwood. He served as a private under Ensign Sybert Acker of the Tarrytown Company [Captain Oload Requa’s] of the South End Regiment of Westchester County Miltia. His file contains a deposition by Samuel Youngs stating that Acker was wounded in the same skirmish that Abraham Dyckman and Samuel Van W[est] were killed.

AARON ADAMS, RWPA #W9323. He served as a sergeant in Captain ____ Shepard's Company of Colonel Ethan Allen's Regiment of Green Mountain Boys.

EBENEEZER ADAMS, RWPA #S11939. He served in Captain Henry B. Livingston's Company of The Fourth New York Regiment [then Colonel James Holmes' Regiment].

ELIJAH ADAMS, RWPA #S11942. He was born in Hartford County, Connecticut on June 10, 1753. He served in Captain Henry Gardinier's Company of the Fourth Rensselaerwyck Regiment of Albany County Militia [Colonel Stephen J. Schuyler's Regiment]. His file contains a deposition by Thomas Lewis Spotten.

EMANUEL ADAMS, RWPA #S45172. He served in Captain James Gregg's Company of the Third New York Regiment from February 10, 1778 to June of 1783.

HENRY ADAMY, RWPA #S44287. He served two years in Captain Cornelius T. Johnson's Company of the Third New York Regiment.

JOSEPH AGARD, RWPA #S45179. He served as a private in Captain Eleazer Curtis' Company of the First New York Regiment from December of 1775 to January of 1776.

NOAH AGARD, RWPA #S45180. He served as a private in the First New York Regiment for eleven months in 1775.

WILLIAM ANDERSON, RWPA #R188. He married in Walkill Township, Orange County, New York on September 11, 1781, Isebella Newkirk. His file contains a Family Bible Record. He served in Captain William Cross' Company of Colonel Moses Cantine's Regiment.

EZEKIEL ANDRASON, RWPA #W23456. He was age 65, when he was deposed on September 20, 1820. He served as a private in Captain Thomas DeWitt's Company of the Third New York Regiment from 1775 through 1778.

GEORGE ANTHONY, RWPA# S44303. He served in the Fourth Regiment of Light Dragoon's. His discharge certificate is located in the file of George Anthony, RWPA #S2341.

JOHN ANTHONY, RWPA #S12934. He was a brother of Jacob Anthony. He served in Colonel Seth Warner's Regiment of Green Mountain Boys. His file contains depositions Peter Ackert and John Van Antwerp.

JOHN ANTHONY, RWPA #S44549. He served in Captain Jno Johnson's Company of the First New York Regiment.

PETER ANTHONY, RWPA #S44550. He was age 79 when deposed on March 31st, 1818. He states he served throughout the war in the First New York Regiment. [He is not found in the Muster Rolls of the 3rd NY]

RICHARD ANTHONY, RWPA #W25352. He was born in Rhode Island on April 27, 1761. He served in the First New York Regiment as a Levy at Forts Ann and Edward. He was taken a prisoner in the war.

BENJAMIN ATWATER, RWPA #S14931. He served in Captain Matthew Rae's Company of the Beekman’s Precinct Regiment of Dutchess County Militia [Colonel William Humphrey's Regiment].

JOSEPH ATWELL, RWPA #S12009. He served in Captain Philipp Frisby's Company of the Kings District Regiment of [Colonel William Bradford Whiting's Regiment].

PETER ATWILL, RWPA #S12007. He served in Captain Andrew Moody's Company of Colonel John Lamb's Regiment of Artillery.

JEDEDIAH ATWOOD, RWPA #R300. He served in Captain [Mark] Coon's Company [sic] of Colonel [ ] Buell's Regiment [sic].

ISAAC BABCOCK, RWPA #W20666. He was born in the Village of Haverstraw Township, Rockland County, New York on July 4, 1760. He served in Captain John Gardner's Company of Colonel Anne Hawkes Hay's Regiment.

JAMES J. BABCOCK, RWPA #R341. He states he served in Captain [ ] Boyd's Company [sic] of the Florida and Warwick District Regiment of Orange County Militia [Lieutenant Colonel Henry Wisner III's Regiment].

JASON BABCOCK, RWPA #S28635. He served in Captain Augustin Odell's Company of the Fourth Rensselaerwyck Manor Regiment of Albany County Militia [Henry K. Van Renssealer’s Regiment].

JOHN BABCOCK, RWPA #W20684. He served in Captain Prentice Bowen's Company of Lieutenant Colonel Frederick Weisenfelt's Regiment in 1782.

WILLIAM BABCOCK, RWPA #R346. He was born in Haverstraw Township, Rockland County, New York on January 2, 1754. Interestingly, William's Grandfather died the day of his birth [ONE COMES: ONE GOES!]. He states he served in the companies of Captains [ ] Hutchinson and [ ] Garner of Colonel [ ] Burn's Regiment.

JOHN BALSLEY, RWPA #R467. He married on January 1, 1790 Charity [ ], who died on March 15, 1803. He died on August 8, 1850. His file contains depositions by Jacob Hawser and David Potter (age 70 when deposed on June 25, 1853. He is possibly the John Balsley who served in Captain Adam Helmer's Regiment of the Palatine District Regiment of Tryon County Militia per the New York State Comptroller's Records. His file contains depositions by Jacob Hawser and David Potter.

JACOB BAMPER, RWPA #W6100. He married per the Reformed Dutch Records of Tappan, Bergen County, New Jersey on January 12, 1778 Anna Hopper, a daughter of Garret Hopper. Anna died at age 90 years and two months on February 26, 1844. He served as a lieutenant in Colonel Jacob Remsen's Regiment of Long Island Militia in 1777; in Lieutenant Captain Benjamin Petten's Company of the Second New York Regiment [sic]; and in Colonel Stephen Moylan's Regiment of Dragoons. He was taken a prisoner-of-war while serving as a mid-shipman board the Rebel Sloop "Trumbull" in a battle fought near Philadelphia, Pennsylvania between the "Trumbull" and the British Ships "Iris" and "Captain Dorcen"; he was then held aboard a prison ship, lying off the settlement of Wallabough on the New York side of Long Island, which was commanded by Captain [ ] Graham. His file contains depositions by Bridesmaid Rachel Voorhase and Albert Zabriskee.

FLORUS BANCKER, RWPA #R473. He died on February 13, 1821. He married Martha Young. His grandson, William Van Vleck, states that Florus was a Captain and Major during the Revolutionary War. He served as a Captain in the Fourth Rensselaerwyck Regiment of Albany County Militia.

FREDERICK BANCKER, RWPA #W23506. He was born in Hyde Park Township, Dutchess County, New York on August 14, 1758. He married in Ulster County, New York on March 13, 1781 Ellen Underhill. He died in Hyde Park Township, Dutchess County, New York on June 6, 1848. He served as a sergeant in Captain Isaac Concklin's Company of the Fourth Regiment [or Pawling's Precinct Regiment] of Dutchess County Militia. He assisted in the taking of the British Schooner "[ ]" on the Hudson River near Hyde Park. His file contains depositions by Isaac Stentenburgh, Reuben Nelson, Thomas Bancker, and Joel Nelson DeGraff, and Theophilus Nelson.

JAMES BANCKER, RWPA #S17831. He served as a private in Captain John Doughty's Company of the Second Regiment of New York Artillery. James Forbes of Oppenheim Township, Montgomery County, New York states he served with Bancker in Captain John Doughty's Company of the Second Regiment of New York Artillery. Cornelius House of the Northern District of Montgomery County, New York states he served in the Second Regiment of New York Artillery along with Bancker and James Forbes for five years.

NICHOLAS BANCKER, RWPA #R473. He served under Gabriel Requaw of the East Philipsburgh Company of the South Regiment of Westchester County Militia [Lieutenant Colonel James Hammond's Regiment]. He was pensioned under the Act of April 10, 1806.

Lieutenant STEPHEN BANCKER, RWPA #S28637. He served in Captain Isaac Barnum's Company of Colonel James Bailey's Regiment.

JOHN BARBER, RWPA #S29613. He served in Captain William Jackson's Company of the Fourth New York Regiment [Colonel Francis Nichol’s Regiment].

EDWARD BARE, RWPA #W16825. He served in Colonel John Lamb's Regiment of Artillery.

MARSHALL BAREMORE, RWPA #S23113. He states he served in Captain Silas Child's Company of the Dorset District Regiment of Charlotte County Militia [Lieutenant Colonel Alexander Webster’s Regiment]. His file contains depositions by John Howe and John Dickor.

FREDERICK BARKHUFF, RWPA #W16181. He married in the City of Schenectady, Schenectady County, New York on December 2, 1783 Mary [ ]. He died on August 12, 1809. He enlisted on August 24, 1777 as a private.in Captain Oliver Van Benschoten's Company of the Third New York Regiment. Nicholas Hill states he and Frederick were members of the same mess.

SAMUEL BARKLEY, RWPA #R508. He married on February 15, 1787 Montgomery Township, Orange County, New York. He died on April 17, 1814. He served as a lieutenant in Captain John Graham's Company of the Fourth Regiment of Ulster County Militia. He states he was out in pursuit of Captain Graham whom defected to the enemy about the time Fort Montgomery was taken by the British.

MOSES BARLOW, RWPA #W1209. He served in Captain James Taldmadge's Company of Colonel Morris Graham's Regiment, as well as in the regiments of the Charlotte District Regiment of Dutchess County Militia.

HENRY BARMORE, RWPA #R493. He served in Captain Curry Smith's Company of the Haverstraw Precinct Regiment of Orange County Militia [Colonel Ann Hawkes Hay's Regiment].

JONATHON BARNABY, RWPA #S28992. He was born in East Hampton Township, Suffolk County, New York on October 5, 1754. He served in Captain J. Davis' Company of Colonel Henry Livingston's Regiment.

DAVID BARNES, Invalid. He lost his right eye while serving in Colonel [ ] Livingston's Regiment in 1777.

HENRY BARNES, RWPA #S44314. He was age 66 when deposed on April 16, 1818. He served for six years in Captain Aaron Austin's Company of the Third New York Regiment from October of 1777 through 1783. He fought in the Battles of Newton and Yorktown. John Keller states he and Henry were together in The Battle of Yorktown.

JACOB BARNES, RWPA #S38524. He was age 76 when deposed on June 28, 1820. He states he served as a private in Colonel James Livingston's Regiment.

JOHN BARNES, RWPA #S44313. He came to the United States in 1780 as a member of the French Army.

JOHN BARNES, RWPA #S12105. He was age 74 when deposed on August 24, 1832. He served in the Fort Washington Theater.

JOHN BARNES, RWPA #S23110. He was in Canaan, Connecticut and was age 79 when deposed on October 10, 1832. He served in the Dutchess County, New York Theater.

JOHN C. BARNES, RWPA #W10385. He was born in Killingsly Township, Windham County, New York in 1761. He married on December 17, 1821. He died July 12, 1842. He served in the Skenesborough Theater of northeastern New York.

SOLOMON BARNES, BLWt #6888. He served as a corporal in Colonel John Lamb's Artillery.

WILLIAM BARNES, RWPA #S44315. He states that General Charles Lee attacked the British about eight A.M. in the Battle of Monmouth and then retreated about ten miles before being intercepted by General George Washington who then took the command and reengaged the British. He states the battle lasted till nearly eight P.M. He also fought in the Battle of Yorktown.**

JOHN BARNET, RWPA #S44309. He enlisted as a private in Captain Samuel Van Vechten's Company of Colonel Cornelius D. Wynkoop's Regiment [The Fourth New York Regiment] for one year in April of 1776. At the outbreak of the war he was in the employment of Frederick Smith. His file contains depositions by Isaac Overbaugh and Captain Van Vechten's son, Peter Vechten.

MOSES BARNETT, RWPA #S15303. He was born in Preston Township, [ ] County, Connecticut in 1752, a brother of Nathaniel Barnett. He fought in the Battle of Rhode Island. The Comptroller’s Records sho that he served in Captain James Hadlock's Company of the Hoosick and Schaghteccoke Districts Regiment of Albany County Militia [Colonel Peter Yate’s Regiment]. He speaks of volunteering to march to Split Rock on Lake Champlain upon intelligence that Sir John Johnson was planning to conduct a raid on the Mohawk River Settlements in 1780, but states they arrived after Sir John and were thus unsuccessful. His file contains a deposition by Nathaniel Barnett.

ELIAKIM BARNUM, RWPA #R551. He was born in Danbury Township, [ ] County, Connecticut on August 21, 1748, a younger brother of Captain Joseph Barnum. He speaks of the bombardment of the City of New York by the British Frigate "Asia" in 1776. He served as a commissary and as a lieutenant in Captain Thomas Storm's Company of the Rombout District Regiment Dutchess County Militia of Dutchess County Militia. His commissary's commission is on frames 0395 and 0396.

SAMUEL BARNUM, RWPA #S44335. He states he served as a private in Captain [ ] Billing's Company of Colonel [ ] Richmond's Regiment. He also served a tour in Captain Benjamin Fi[ ]'s Company of the Second New York Regiment.

ABRAHAM BARRETT, RWPA #S17261. He served in the Middle Regiment of Westchester County Militia [Colonel Thomas Thomas' Regiment].

BETHUEL BARRETT, RWPA #S23103. He served in Captain Hezekiah Gray's Company of the Middle Regiment of Westchester County Militia [Colonel Thomas Thomas's Regiment] in Colonel [ ] Sheldon's Regiment of Horsemen.

OLIVER BARRETT, RWPA #W10384. He served as an ensign in Captain William McCane's Company of Colonel Seth Warner's Regiment of Green Mountain Boys.

REUBEN BARRETT, RWPA #W25211. He served in Captain Benjamin Steven's Company of Westchester County Militia.

SAMUEL BARRETT, RWPA #S12052. He served in Captain Hezekiah Grey's Company of the Middle Regiment of Westchester County Militia [Colonel Thomas Thomas's Regiment].

WILLIAM BARRETT, RWPA #S12130. He served in Captain Nathaniel Delevan's Company of Colonel Pierre Van Cortlandt's Regiment of Militia.

WALTER BARRIGER, RWPA #W18572. He married in September of 1783 or 1785, Margaret Fero who was born on either January 31, 1767 or 1769. He served in Captain Henry Dubois' Company of the Second New York Regiment.

ROBERT BARRON, RWPA #W21644. He was born on November 27, 1755. He married in Catskill Township, Greene County, New York in May 20, 1766 Phebe Shepherd. He died in Cario Township, [ ] County, New York. His Family Bible Record. He served as an artificer and carpenter.

LEVI BARTLET, RWPA #S12082. He served in the Peekskill Theater and took part in the Southern Epedition of the Sullivan's Campaign.

EBENEZER BARTLETT, RWPA #S32109. He was born in Newbury Township, Ornage County, New York on October 4, 1759. He served as a private in Captain Daniel Denton's Company of Colonel Rudolphus Retzema's Regiment in New York City.

HAYNES BARTLETT, RWPA #S10336. He was born in Newbury Township, Orange County, New York. He served as a private in Captain Daniel Denton's Company of Colonel Rudolphus Ritzema's Regiment in New York City.

HENRY BARTLEY, RWPA #W23493. He married in New Windsor Township, Orange County, New York on November 22, 1779 Ann Sherwood. He died on January 17, 1832. He served as a private in Captain Samuel Raymond's Company of Orange County Minute Men.

CEASER BASSET, RWPA #W16827. He married on July 6, 1781 Flora Barlans. He died on September 14, 1816. He served as a private in Captain Henry Pawling’s Company of Colonel Albert Pawling's Regiment. His file contains depositions by John C. Brink and Adam Brink.

HICKEY BATES, RWPA #R614. He served as a sergeant in Captain John Van Benschoten's Company of Colonel Roswell Hopkins Regiment.

PETER BERRINGER, RWPA #S12968. He served in the Manor of Livingston Regiment of Albany County, New York Miltia [Colonel Peter R. Livingston's Regiment].

PHILIP BARTEL, RWPA #R1034. He was born in Livingston Manor, Columbia County, New York in 1758. He married in February of 1780, Patty Depew. She was a widow at the time of marriage to Bartel. He died in Halfmoon Township, Saratoga County, New York on July 5, 1835. She died in Stillwater, Saratoga County, New York on April 20, 1846.

JOHN BARNET, RWPA #S44309. He was age 84, when deposed on July 8, 1818. He served as a private in Captain Samuel Van Vechten's Company of Cornelius D. Wynkoop's Regiment in 1776.

PHILIP BARTEL, RWPA #R1034. He was born in Livingston's Manor of Columbia County, New York in 1758. He married in Dutchess County, New York in February of 1780, Patty Depew. He died in Halfmoon Township, Saratoga County, New York on July 5, 1835. His widow died in Stillwater Township, Saratoga County, New York on April 20, 1846. His file contains a deposition by John Van Hason.

EDWARD BAVOR, RWPA #S35178. He served as a sergeant in Colonel John Lamb's Regiment of Artillery.

ELIAS BAYLES, RWPA #S44584. He was age 67 when deposed on April 9, 1818. Captain Henry Tiebout Company of the Third New York Regiment from 1780 through 1783. His file contains a discharge signed by George Washington. His file also contains a deposition by Francis Elliot of the First New York Regiment.

DANIEL BAYLEY, RWPA #S44571. He was age 60 when deposed on June 26 1820. He served as a private in Captain James Pierce's Company of Colonel Henry B. Livingston's Regiment [the Fourth New York Regiment] and was present at the surrender of John Burgoyne. His file contains a deposition by Daniel Ver Planck of the Fourth New York Regiment.

JOHN BEARUP, RWPA #R676. He married, per the records of the Dutch Reformed Church of Schenectady, Schenectady County, New York on January 20, 1793, Caty McGee of Vroomans Kill. His file contains depositions by Thomas Bearup and Christopher Ward.

JOHN BECKER, RWPA #W16837. He married on June 22, 1766 Sarah Van Hoese. He died on April 15, 1804. He served in Captain Jacob Yate's Company of Colonel Peter Yate's Regiment and Captain Walter Groesbeck of Colonel John Knickerbocker's Regiment. His contains depositions John Vananburgh and John L. Van Antwerp.

MARTINUS BECKER, RWPA #W2431. He was born at Nine Partners in Dutchess County, New York on May 30, 1749. He married in Charlestown Township, Montgomery County, New York on August 3, 1825 Jane C. Marlatt. He served as a private in Captain Cadwalader C. Colden's Company [sic] of Colonel Lewis Van Woert's Regiment. His file contains depositions by David B. Becker and Samuel Brown.

CALEB BENEDICT, RWPA #R12435. He served in Captain Jonathon Loder's Company of Thaddeus Crane's Regiment.

ELIAS BENEDICT, RWPA #R741. He was born in Danbury Township, Fairfield County, Connecticut on May 23, 1765, a son of Elisha and Jerusha (Starr) Benedict. His father was born on April 2, 1736, and his mother on April 26, 1727, per Elisha Benendict's Family Bible Record. Elisa and his brothers Caleb, Elisha, and Felix were captured by the British in the Ballston Raid of October 17, 1780.

ISAAC BENEDICT, RWPA #S12156. He states he served as a corporal in Captain Reuben Scofield's Company of New York Militia. He also states he served in the company of Captain John Costin of Colonel John Mead's Regiment.

JESSE BENNET, RWPA #S12184. He served in Colonel John Douglas' Regiment.

NATHAN BENNET, RWPA #W9353. He married on January 8, 1808, Mary M. Reynolds. He served in Colonel John Lamb's Regiment of Artillery.

DANIEL BENJAMIN, RWPA #S34026. He was born on January 25, 1759. He was also known as Daniel D. Benjamin. He served a three month tour in Colonel William Malcom's Regiment. He also served as a private in Captain John Wisner's Company of Colonel Francis Nicholl's Regiment. Daniel states he fought in the Battle of Monmouth on June 27, 1778. His file contains a deposition by Peter Courtee.

DANIEL BENJAMIN, RWPA #R20023. He was born on September 26, 1762. He married on September 19, 1782, Sara Davis, a daughter of Captain John Davis of Colonel William Bradford Whiting's Regiment. He died circa 1820. His file contains a Family Bible Record. He served as a private in Captain Noble's Company of the Fifth New York Regiment.

The Comptroller’s Records list an Ebenezer Benjamin serving as a lieutenant in Captain John Davis’ Company of the King’s District Regiment of Albany County Militia [Colonel William Bradford Whiting’s Regiment] and one as being a private in Captain Ebenezer Cady’s Company of

JOSIAH BENJAMIN, RWPA #R747. He was a brother of Isaiah Benjamin. He served in Captain Hezekiah Dunham's Company of Colonel Cornelius Van Vechten's Regiment. His file contains a deposition by Edeg Baker.

JUDAH BENJAMIN, RWPA #S39981. He was age 65 when deposed on October 11, 1819. He served as a private in [Captain [ ] Marcy's Company] the New Hampshire Regiments of George Reed and Elisha Sheldon. He performed some of his duties at White Plains, New York.

SAMUEL BENJAMIN, RWPA #S45260. He was born in February of 1761. He states he is shown on the regimental rolls as Phineas Benjamin, Junior. JOHN BROOKS, RWPA #R1251. He was born in New York City, New York in 1741. He died on December 31, 1834 in Monroe County, New York. He served as a private in Captain Francis Smith's Company of the East Orange or Cornwall District Regiment of Orange County Militia. He was taken prisoner in the October 6th, 1777 loss of Fort Montgomery to the British. He states he was taken along with private Robert Daviness. Robert Lamon states his brother Robert Lamon was taken at FortMontgomery along with Brooks in 1777. James Weygant states Brooks, Robert Davenport, and John Weygant were also taken on October 6th, 1777. His file also contains depositions by Robert Davenport; Catherine Gafft; and Elizabeth Weygant, a daughter of Captain Francis Smith.

JOHN BROOKS, RWPA #S23137. He was born on June 4, 1759, and was of Westchester County, New York at the time of his service in the war. He served in the Captain Joseph Benedict's Company of Colonel James Holme's Regiment and Captain Benjamin Stephen's Company of Colonel Samuel Drake's Regiment. He fought in the Battles of Flatbush, Crum Pond, Tuckahoe (in Westchester County, New York), and Danbury, Connecticut.

JOHN BROOKS, RWPA #W10451. He was born in Ridgefiled Township, Fairfield County, New York on December 4, 1753. He married in (2) Huron County, Ohio on February 5, 1838 Orilla Hancock. He died on September 23, 1846. He served as a private in Captain Cornelius Hardenburgh's Company of Colonel Rudolphus Ritzman's Regiment and in Colonel Jesse Woodhull's Regiment of Orange County Militia. He states he was stationed in Fort Wsahington on Fort Isalnd on the day it was evacuated. He was wounded in the right arm in the Battle of White Plains. He also served in Captain William Telford's Company Company of the South End Regiment of Ulster County Militia. John states he was thrice wounded in a battle with Joseph Brant on the Beaver Creek near Peen Pack and he states that Lieutenant Colonel Doctor Benjamin Thurston of the Goshen District Regiment of Orange County Militia, Captain Bazaliel Tyler Junior of Little Britian in the New Windsor Precinct Company of the South End Regiment of Ulster County Militia, and Major [ ] DeWitt [sic] were killed in this battle.He also fought in the Battle of Trenton as an Orderly Sergeant.

EBENEEZER BROUGHTON, RWPA # W18650. He married in Norwhich Township, Windham County, Connecticut on November 30, 1786, Lois [ ]. He died in Fort Ann Township, Washington County, New York on October 17, 1833. He served in the Connecticut Regiments of Colonel Samuel Prentis and in Captain John Shemway's Company of Colonel Josiah Starr as a fife major. His file contains depositions by John Sargent, Joel Benton, and Elisabeth Benton.

JOHN BROUGHTON, RWPA #W20769. He married on January 30, 1765, Hannah [ ]. He died on September 26, 1805. He served in Captain Thomas Knowlton's Company of Connecticut Troops.

MICHAEL BROUGHTON, RWPA #W18666. He was born a brother of Samuel Broughton. He married in West Simsbury, Hartford County, Connecticut on November 9, 1783, Sarah Richards. At the outset of the war, he was living with his father in New Hartford Township, Litchfield County, Connecticut. His file contains a Family Bible Record. He served in the companies of Captains Daniel Mills and [ ] Griffin of the regiments of Colonels [ ] Canfield and [ ] Mead. His file contains depositions by Jonah R. Broughton, Samuel Broughton, J. Rust, and Phebe Frost.

ABRAHAM BROWER, RWPA #W17352. He served in Captain Elijah Gilbert's Company of the Haverstraw Precinct Regiment of [Lieutenant Colonel Gilbert Cooper's Regiment].

JOEL BROWER, RWPA #S29020. He was born South Hampton, England on February 20, 1762. He served as a carpenter in Captain Samuel Chard's of Artificers, the engineer of the company being Captain Thomas Machin. Concerning the Battle of Monmouth, Brower states . . . he was stationed on the right of the left wing of Clintons brigade, in this battle he was wounded by a dragoon, by having his two middle fingers cut off & the little finger nearly half off, the from the same person he received another wound by an underhanded blow and the point of his sword passed through his left eye brow, at this instant the dragoons horse was shot through the head & fell dead at his feet. and as soon as he had recovered a little he drew his bayonet at his antagonist but adjutant Johnson catched him by the shoulder saying "no murder here you young rogue the man cries for quarters" he was now ordered to the rear of the regiment. he see a great number fall this day from the excessive heat. want of water &c. he is positive that General Washington and General Lee highly disagreed this day that Gen. Lee had badly arranged the right left wing so that their plan was defeated and the British army gained the brige\: Gen Washington this day was mounted on a milk white dappled gray horse & he see him ride from the extremity of one wing to the other with great velocity, he also stated that great indignation was felt by the army towards Gen Lee for his bad management. in this battle. After deponents answers the next day he was conveyed a few miles with the rest of the wounded to a barn from there to Morristown where he remained untill he had recovered of his wounds . . . Joel was wounded in the Battle of Monmouth. He also gives good details on the Seige of Fort Montgomery in which his cousin, Samuel Jones, perished. His file contains a deposition by Isaac Hollock. [Is he a Brower versus Bower]?

SAMUEL BROWN, RWPA #R1343. He was born in New York City, New York on October 20, 1758. He served briefly in the First New York in 1776.

SAMUEL BROWN, RWPA #S6703. He was born in Pondridge Township, Westchester County, New York in 1755. He served for nine months in Captain Jonathon Titus' Company of the Fourth New York Regiment in 1776. MOSES BUMP, RWPA #S12362. He was born on Philips Patent in New York on September 26, 1760. He served in Captain Hay's Company of Colonel Lewis Van Woert's Regiment. He was living in Shaftsbury Township, Bennington County, Vermont in 1779. In 1778, he enlisted for one year in the Third New York Regiment.

DAVID BURNS, RWPA #S44706. He was first deposed on May 1, 1818. He served in Colonel John Lamb's Regiment of Artillery and also in the Fourth New York Regiment (1775).

DAVID BURNS, RWPA #W26778. He was born in Boston Township, Suffolk County, New York on August 18, 1758. He served in Captain William McKier's Company of Colonel Anne Hawkes Hay's Regiment.

WILLIAM BUTTS, RWPA #W16876. He was born in Tiverton, [ ] County, Rhode Island on June 20, 1755. HHew married in Amenia Township, Dutchess County, New York in May of 1779. He died in Barre Township, Orleans County, New York on April 20. 1841. His file contains a Family Bible Record which contains records from his father's generation. He served in the Fishkill Theater. In 1782 he served as a corporal in Captain Gilbert I. Livingston's Company of Lieutenant Colonel Frederick Weisenfelt's Regiment of Levies.

JOHN BUYS, RWPA #W16203. He married Leah [Storm?] of Greenbush in 1770. He died on April 3rd, 1831. He served in Colonel Samuel Drake's Regiment.

ZEBULON CABLES, RWPA #W9380. He was age 83 when deposed on October 4, 1820. He married, per the records of the Dutch Reformed Church of Albany, on October 17, 1772 Catharine Schoneman. He died at Bainbridge in Chenango County, New York on September 18, 1838. He served for nine months in Captain David Van Ness' Company of the First New York Regiment in 1776.

LUTHER CADY, RWPA #S28670. He was born in Willingsly Township, Windham County, Connecticut on April 1, 1762. He states he drove General George Washington's Baggage Wagon in 1780. He, and several others, were taken by the British in 1781, a list of the names is included in his file. He escaped from the British in 1782, along with several others. He served under Colonel John Brown in 1775.

EDWARD CAIN, RWPA #R1585. He was born in Bela Parish, Autrim County, Ireland on July 18, 1746. He migrated to America in 1776. He married in Litchfield Township, Connecticut in 1781, Bethiah ([ ]) Smith, the widow of Jonathon Smith who had been killed in the service. He died in Portage Township, Allegheny County, New York on May 7, 1833. His file contains a February 1, 1838, edition of The Mount Morris Spectator (a newspaper).

He fought in the Battle of White Plains under the command of Captain Edward Meek’s of Colonel ____ ____’s Regiment. In 1777, he served under the command of Captain Benjamin Steven’s Company of of Colonel ____ ____’s Regiment and therein was engaged in a skirmish with of Tory Light Horsemen in which Joshua Perry and three horses were killed.

ROBERT CASEY, RWPA #W22739. He married on March 10, 1787, Rebecca Peirce. His file contains a William Murray Fracture on Frame 0685. He served as a sergeant in Captain Benjamin Hick's Company of the First New York Regiment.

NICHOLAS CASSIDY, RWPA #S40797. He was age 80+, when he was deposed on July 17, 1820. He died on January 25, 1822. He served for three years in Captain Cornelius Johnson's Company of the Third New York Regiment and was discharged on March 13, 1780.

JOHN CASTEN, RWPA #S12677. He was born in New York City, New York in 1757. He served in Captain [ ] Forbish's Company of Colonel [ ] Richmond's Regiment.

He was drafted while living at Nine Partners in Dutchess County, New York in 1779.

She married in Peru Township, Oswego County, New York (2) on October 7, 1805, Aaron Norton. Her second husband died on December 31, 1818. She died in Peru Township, Oswego County, New York on May 18, 1848. It is stated in his file that he lived with the Anson Family for sometime prior to his marriage to Martha Anson. He served in Captain Gray's Company of Lieutenant Colonel Frederick Weisenfelt's Regiment. His file contains a deposition by Elizabeth Flint.

DAVID CRIST, RWPA #R2489. He was born on October 25, 1750. He died on June 10, 1811.

JOHN P. CRITCHETT, RWPA #R2490. He was born in Portsmouth Township, New Hampshire on September 18, 1753. On June 3, 1773 he and four others were impressed to serve aboard the British Man of War Cancer and he states that he deserted the said ship while it was moored in Kennebunc, Maine. As a result of his desertion he feared being captured by the British and thus served in the American Cause under the assumed name of John Peacock. He served as a private in Captain Bernardous Sartout's Company of Colonel Jacobus Swartout's Regiment of Dutchess County Militia and fought with the company in the Battle of Flat Bush. In the spring of 1777 he enlisted in Captain Thomas Machin's Company of the Second Regiment of Artillery. After Captain Machin was wounded while defending Constitution, Andrew Moody became the company's commander. He states he was amongst those who sunk Chevaur de frise in the river near Polypus Island below Windsor. John for a time commanded a vessel named the Government Sloop and once rushed Captain Moody and a 24 pound cannon to Newburgh to shell some British ships.

JOHN CROFT, RWPA #S10491. He was born in Cortlandt Township, Westchester County, New York on January 15, 1764. He served as a private in Captain Dennis McGuire's Company and acted as a bargeman transporting General Philip Schuyler. In 1782 he served in Captain Thomas Hunt's Company of Colonel Frederick Weisenfelt's Regiment of Levies. He once served as a substitute for a John Brown. His file contains depositions by Godfrey Vought, John Lent, Mead Merrill and Caty Lent.

WILLIAM CROLIUS, RWPA #W10685. He was a son of William Crolius. He married on February 28, 1775 Mary Dobbs, a daughter of Harbor Master and Captain William Dobbs. He served as a grenadier in Captain Van Dyck's Company of Colonel John Lasher's Regiment and fought in the Battles of White Plains and Harlem Heights. In November of 1777 he was appointed Assistant Harbor Master under the command of Captain William Dobbs. After the Fort Montgomery debacle, he served as a wagon master and express rider under the direction of General McDougal (1779). In 1780 and 1781 he served in the Issuing Department under Colonel Charles Stewart. He moved to New Jersey in 1781 or 1782. His file contains a long oral history of the vessels Goldfinch and Dolphin. His file contains a deposition by John Crolius.

CHRISTOPHER CROMWELL, RWPA #S23589. He was age 77 when deposed on September 4, 1832. He served as a private in Captain Cuddeback's Company of Colonel Paulding's Regiment along the North River. and at Peen Pack. His file contains a deposition by Adam Jensaburgh and William Eagn.

JOHN CRONK, RWPA #W20926. He married in Hoosick Township, Rensselaer County, New York in [March] of 1782 Lois Gifford, a sister of Benjamin Gifford and a daughter of Joseph Gifford. Lois' father wished to objected to the marriage as John was still a member of the First New York Regiment, but arrived at the church to late to stop the wedding. John died in the fall of 1816. One of John's sisters married a Joseph Lewis. He was also known as John Cronkhite. He served as a corporal in Captain Benjamin Hicks of the First New York Regiment. His widow was pensioned by House of Representatives Bill #H.R. 158 on February 15, 1844. His file contains depositions by Benjamin Gifford, Joseph Collins, and Joseph Brown.

JOHN CRONK, RWPA #R2500. He was born in Greenburgh Township, Westchester County, New York in 1764. He states his father was captured and killed by the enemy during the war. He served in Colonel Philip Van Courtlandt's Regiment.

FRANCIS CRONKHITE, RWPA #S43424. He was age 60 when deposed on June 13, 1818. He served as a private in Captain Benjamin Hicks' Company of the First New York Regiment. His file contains a deposition by Ensign Jonathan Brown.

PATRICK CRONKHITE, RWPA #W16932. He married in Green Township, New York on September 10, 1766 Maria Humphrey. He died on October 9, 1802. He served in Captain John Wendell's Company of the First New York Regiment. He fought in the Battles of Saratoga, Brandywine, Monmouth, and Yorktown.

GERARDUS CRONKWRIGHT, RWPA #S15260. He was born in Philips Manor, Westchester County, New York in 1754. He once hired a Eli Shaw as his substitute in 1777 due to his being ill. He fought in the Battle of Fort Independence in Phillips Town, Westchester County, New York. He states that while he was stationed at Poughkeepsie, two spys were hung by the orders of George Washington. He states that he also fought in the Battles of White Plains and Valentines Hill; a [ ] Haddock was killed in the Battle of Valentines Hill. His file contains a deposition by Daniel Carman.

MICHAEL CRONTS, RWPA #S32191. He was born in Orange County, New York and was about age 80 when deposed on August 12, 1833. He served as a private in Captain John Barnes Company of the Dorset Regiment of Charlotte County Militia and in Captain William Faulkner's Company of the Northern Regiment of Ulster County Militia. Michael states he fought in the Battle of Fort Putnam in which Captain Faulkner was wounded and Colonel James McClaughery was captured by the enemy. He also fought in the Battle of Stony Point.

ANDREW CROOK, RWPA #S15270. He was age 72 when deposed on September 18, 1832. He died on December 10, 1840. He served as a priavte in Captain Ezekiel Ladd's Company of Colonel [ ] Bedel's Regiment New Hampshire Troops. His file contains depositions by James Ladd, Joseph Foord, Ichabod Palmer.

MARTIN CROOK, RWPA #S43418. He states he was age 60 when deposed on April 1, 1818, but states his age as being 65 when deposed on July 5, 1820. He served as a priavte in Captain James Black's Company of William Malcom's Regiment from May 20, 1777 through 1779, when he was transferred to Captain Lieutenant John Orr's Company of Colonel Spencer's Regiment and was discharged from the service in 1780 (his discharge is located within his file). His file also contains a letter signed by Ensign Peter Elmendorf of Captain Black's Company and by Major Albert Pawling.

DAVID CROUCH, RWPA #W18354. He married in Pittstown Township, Rensselaer County, New York on January 15, 1785, Elanor McKee. He died in Western Township, Oneida County, New York on July 15, 1815. He served in the First Connecticut Regiment, as well as a unit of the New York Line. His file contains depositions by Henry Keech, John Keech, John Pettingell, Margaret Milligan, Rachel Oliver, and Samuel Kelly, a son David and Mary Kelly.

EZEKIEL CROUSE, RWPA #R2536. He married in Waukill Township, Orange County, New York in 1775, Mary Puff. He died in Waukill Township, Orange County, New York on October 6, 1824. He served throughout the war in the Orange County, New York Theater. James Miller states he married Hannah Hakes in the same ceremony as the Crouse's. His file also contains depositions by Catherine Crouse and James Dailey.

DANIEL CROXFORD, RWPA #W8191. He was born in Newbury Township, Essex County, New York. He married in Dunham Township, New Hampshire on December 28, 1821 Peggy Stockbridge. He died in Dunham Township, New Hampshire on March 5, 1837. He was a textiles dying master at the time of the onset of the war. He states he was present at the Boston Tea Party of December of 1773. He was hired to oversee dying and clothing operations in the mills belonging to General John Sullivan in Dunham during the war.

CHRISTIAN CROY, RWPA #S15060. He was born near the Rhine River in Germany in 1750. During the war he resided about eight miles east of the City of Albany. In 1778 he served as a private in Captain Tunis Vischer's Company of Colonel Hays' Regiment of Foot and fought in the Battle of Monmouth. In 1779 or 1780 he served in Captain George Sharp's Company of Colonel Henry K. Van Rensselaer's Regiment.

RICHARD CRUM, RWPA #W25454. He died in Shrewsbury, New Jersey on September 19, 1847. He married in Monmouth County, New Jersey on July 26, 1831 Mary Brooks. He served as a matross in Captain John Doughty's Company of Colonel John Lamb's Regiment of Artillery.

CHRISTOPHER CRUMB, RWPA #S43421. He was age 75 when deposed on April 30, 1819. He was also known as Christopher Schoonover. He served as a private in Captain Charles Newkirk's Company of the Second New York's Regiment.

RICHARD CRUMM, BLWt #289-60-55. He served as a private in Colonel John Lamb's Regiment of Artillery.

THOMAS CRUMMELL, RWPA #R3086. Thomas died in 1776 from wounds he received 22 weeks earlier in the Battle of White Plains, New York. He served as a corporal. His widow married (2), before the war's conclusion, Doctor Abraham Teller. Teller was captured at Teller's Point by the British and held in New York City for a time during the war.

JACOBUS DAVENPORT, RWPA #S10519. He was born in Rochester Township, Ulster County, New York in 1759. He served in Captain Joakim Schoonmaker's Company of Colonel John Cantine's Regiment. He was stationed at Warsawing when it was attacked by the British.

JOHN DAVENPORT, RWPA #R2679. He married in New York City, New York on April 21, 1771, Henrietta Stagg. He died in 1817. She states they were married by the minister of the Dutch Church Reformed Church on Garden Street which was destroyed by the Great Fire of 1835. It is stated that he served throughout the war as an express rider for General Washington and many other members of the War Department.

In 1782, he enlisted as a sergenat major in Captain Paulding's Company of Colonel Frederick Weisenfelt's Regiment of Levies. His file contains depositions by Thomas Pardee and Jacobus Smith.

JULIUS DEMING, RWPA #S17381. He was born in Lyme Township, New London County, Connecticut on April 16, 1755. He died in Litchfield Township, Litchfield County, Connecticut on January 23, 1838. He was appointed an Assistant Commissary General of Purchases under Colonel Henry Champion on September 8, 1776. He was again appointed a Purchasing Commissary under Colonel Champion on May 15, 1780, and served as such until May 8, 1780.

PETER DEMOREST, RWPA #S15082. He states in the companies of Captains [ ] Woods and [ ] Wisner in Colonel Francis Nichol's Regiment in 1776 and 1777.

ISAAC DEMOTT, RWPA #R2870. He served in Captain Samuel Clark's Company of Orange County Militia. He was once ordered to serve a six month tour at Fort Stanwix in Lieutenant Colonel Frederick Weisenfelt's Regiment, but hired a substitute to fill his billet.

RICHARD DEMOTT, RWPA #S4410. He enlisted in the Second New York Regiment for the length of the war in 1781.

WILLIAM DEMOTT, RWPA #S43492. He served in Colonel John Lamb's Regiment of Artillery.

His widow was born in Connecticut. He married in October of 1782. He died on March 29, 1819. Ruth Woodruff of Weststockbridge, County of Berkshire County, Massachusetts states her husband, Asa Woodruff, served with Abial during the war. His file also contains a deposition by Silas Rowley.

BENJAMIN DRAKE, RWPA #S2182. He was born in Peekskill Township, Westchester County, New York on April 18, 1766, a son of Jeremiah Drake. He served as a private in Captain Ebenezer Boyd's Company of Colonel Samuel Drake's Regiment of New York Militia.

CLEMENT DRAKE, RWPA #W4119. He married on March 31, 1774. He died in Easton Township on February, 28, 1788. He served as a private in Captain Macey Williams of Colonel [ ] Walker's Regiment of Massachusetts Militia. His widow married (2) William Bonney. William died on the twenty fifth day of July 25, 1806.

MAJOUR [ELIJAH] DRAKE, RWPA #W16243. He was born on October 30, 175—, a brother of Captain Reuben Drake and a nephew of Colonel Samuel Drake. He married on March 1, 1792. He died on July 6, 1834. He states he changed his name to Elijah after his promotion to second lieutenant after the death of his cousin, Elijah Drake, who had recently expired in the war. Jasper Drake and William W. Dean state Elijah was commonly known as Major Drake early in the war. He served as an ensign in Captain Ebenezer Boyd's Company of the Northern or Manor of Cortlandt Regiment of Westchester County Militia [Colonel Samuel Drake's Regiment] and was promoted to second lieutenant on March 6, 1779. It is stated within his file that Captain Boyd was of poor health throughout the war, and his ability to lead his company was thus questioned. His file also contains a deposition by Smith Covert.

ADAM FRANCE, RWPA #W23061. He was born in Kingston Township, Ulster County, New York on October 14, 1756. He married, per the records of the Reformed Dutch Church of Kingston, Ulster County, New York on May 27, 1784, Margaret Karel. He died on November 28, 1846. In the served throughout the war in the eastern theater of the war. His file contains depositions by Zacariah Short, Wilhelmus Emrich, Martin Post, and William Kieser.

ISAAC FRANKS, RWPA #S41549. He was born in New York City, New York on May 27, 1759. [He died on March 4, 1822]. In June of 1776 he enlisted in Colonel [ ] Lasher's Regiment and fought in the Battle of Long Island. He states the Continental Village was located about five miles above Peekshill. In 1778 he was appointed a Deputy Assistant Commissary General of Forages for West Point under the direction of Colonel Hugh Hughes. He served as noted until January of 1781 when he enlisted in the 7th Massachusetts Regiment as an ensign. His commission which is found within his file is signed by Benjamin Lincoln, Secretary of War. Isaac, suffering from the gravel, resigned from the service at the advice of Doctor Samuel Findley of the 7th Massachusetts Regiment.

JOHN FRANKS, RWPA #S44867. He was age 82 years and 2 months when deposed on May 29, 1820. In April of 1777, he was appointed Paymaster of the Second New York Regiment under Colonel James Clinton and served as such until March of 1780. As paymaster he was ordered to procure provisions for the troops at a cost of £0=0=10 each. John states his wages in 1777 were $40.00 per month with an allowance of $10.00 per month for provisions. He states he was sent from Saratoga to Albany with an express during the first Battle of Saratoga, but was present during the Second Battle.

MICHAEL FRANSISCO, RWPA #S13088. He was born in Horseneck, [ ], New Jersey on January 12, 1763, brother of John Fransisco. He served as a private in Captain [ ] Woolsey's Company of Colonel [ ] Yates at Fort Edward in 1778-9. He also served for nine months in Captain Silas Gray's Company of Lieutenant Colonel John McKinstry's Regiment at Saratoga. His file contains a deposition by Abraham Garrison.

ANDREW FRASHUR, RWPA #S13079. He was born in New York City, New York in 1742. He served as a private in the company of Captain Charles Graham of Colonel Morris Graham's Regiment. He fought in the Battle of White Plains and assisted in destroying the bridge at Groton, Connecticut. Andrew states Colonel Graham's Headquarters were located at the Pine Plains. His file contains depositions by Jacob Cane [possibly Cauw, Caun or Couse] and John Smith.

DAVID FRAYER, RWPA #S23226. He was born in Livingston Manor Township, Columbia County, New York in 1758 or 1759, a brother of Isaac Frayer and Charles Frayer. He served as a private in Captain Conrad Cline's Company of the Manor of Livingston Regiment of Militia. He once served a substitute for Isaac Frayer. His file contains depositions by Charles Frayer and Reuben Horford.

CHRISTOPHER FRY, RWPA #S10702. He was born in Albany, Albany County, New York on December 14, 1762. He served as a private in Captain Henry Wykoff's Company of the Fifth New York Regiment in Forts Constitution and Montgomery. He states that Esopus is now known as Kingston, New York and it was the site of the hanging of a spy. His file contains depositions by Abraham Van Black, Lieutenant James Slight, and James Delong.

ELIAS FREEDENBURG, RWPA #R3804. He was born in Aucrom Township (a part of Livingston's Manor), [ ] County, New York on February 20, 1749. He served as a private in Captain Conrad Cline's Company of Colonel Peter Livingston's Regiment. He speaks of the death of John Hardwick at the hands of the enemy.

JONATHAN FRENCH, RWPA #S8516. He was born in Dunstable Township, [ ] County, New Hampshire on September 22, 1751. He died on May 17, 1838. He served as a private Captain Joseph McCracken's Company in 1775 and fought in the Siege of Saint John's under General Montgomery. Later he served as a private in Captain James Well's Company of Colonel [ ] [ ]'s Regiment. He was appointed the Captain of a company upon the death (from smallpox) of Captain George Gillmore of Colonel [ ] Van Woert's Regiment. His captain's commission states the regiment was commanded by Lieutenant Colonel John Younglove.

CONRAD FRIDAY, RWPA #S43564. He applied for a pension in 1819, but did not state an age. He served as a private in Captain Cornelius Johnson's Company of the First New York Regiment from may of 1777 through June of 1783.

ABRAHAM FULLER, RWPA #S10715. He was born at Newtown in Queens County, New York on March 16, 1755. He was later appointed a Assistant Deputy Commissary General of Forages under the command of Colonel Hugh Hughes [many documents concerning which are in his file]. LEONARD GANSEVOORT, RWPA #R3898. He was born in the City of Albany, Albany County, New York on June 3, 1754. He was a brother of Colonel Peter Gansevoort (Peter Gansevoort Military Papers). He was appointed an ensign in March of 1777.

He married in the home of Benjamin Hanks in Stephenstown, [ ] County, New York in October of 1784 or 1785 Lucy Hanks, a sister of Benjamin Hanks. He served in Captain Ichabod Turner's Company of the Second Rennselaerwyck District Regiment of Albany County Militia [Colonel Killian Van Rensselaer's Regiment].

JOHN GARNETT, RWPA #W19484. He died on February 28, 1829. American State Papers Class 9, page 93 states he lost three fingers in the British siege of Fort Montgomery on October 6, 1777. He served as a matross in Captain Andrew Moody's Company of the Second Regiment of New York Artillery.

NEHEMIAH GATES, RWPA #S21763. He was born in Preston Township, Vermont on May 4, 1736 (Old Style), a brother of Cyrus Gates. He served as both a private and as a sergeant in Captain Marcellus' Company of the First New York Regiment. His file contains a deposition by Cyrus Gates.

STEPHEN GATES, RWPA #R3946. He was born in Huntington Township, Suffolk County, New York on November 15, 1750. He served as a private in Captain Woodworth's Company of Colonel Morris Graham's Regiment in 1775. He once took part in breaking up a band of "Tories" under the command of a Mister Jones, but states Jones escaped and eventually took part in the raids on the Mohawk River. He states they were ordered out to cut off the advance of Sir John Johnson in 1780, but failed to find Johnson near Lake George. His file contains a deposition by William Hatch.

He served Captain [ ] Hornbarrack's Company of Colonel Frederick Weisenfeldt's Regiment of New York State Levies in 1782.

BENJAMIN GEERS, RWPA #S44158. He was age 63 when deposed on April 14, 1818. He served as a private in Captain Henry Tiebout's Company of the Third New York Regiment from the spring of 1778 through 1783.

WILLIAM GELSTON, RWPA #W17942. He was born in Southampton Township, Suffolk County, New York in September of 1756. He served in the southern theater of New York and in New Jersey.

JOHN GIBBS, RWPA #S22264. He was born in Andover Township, [ ] County, Connecticut on April 6, 1762. He served as a private in Captain [ ] Whelp's Company of Colonel [ ] [ ]'s Regiment. He states he was stationed at Saratoga in 1781 when a spy was hung there.

SIMEON GIBBS, RWPA #S36541. He was age 61 when deposed on July 4, 1820. He served as a private in Captain Elizer Curtis' Company of the First New York Regiment. His file contains depositions by Samuel Waugh, Phineas Emmons, and Augustan Curtis of Captain Curtis' Company.

SIMEON GIBBS, RWPA #W17008. He was age 62 when deposed on November 11, 1820. He married in the home of the Reverend George Beckwith in Litchfield Township, Litchfield County, Connecticut on January 1, 1779 Esther Orton, a daughter of Samuel Orton. He died in Avon Township, Livingston County, New York on March 22/23 1822. In 1776-77 he served in Captain Elizer Curtis' Company of the First New York Regiment. He also served as a priavte in Captain Joel Gillett's Company of Coloenl [ ] Enos's Regiment of Connecticut Troops.

JOSEPH GIDDINGS, RWPA #S10736. He was born in New Fairfield on January 22, 1759. He served as a private in Captain [ ] Hoyt's Company of Colonel Samuel B. Webb's Regiment of the Connecticut Line along with Orderly Sergeant Rufus Cone. He states he served in an expedition to White Plains, New York.

JASPER M. GIDLEY, RWPA #W17012. He married in Fishkill Township, Dutchess County, New York in October of 1780 Hannah Jewell, a sister of Nathaniel, George, and Hannah Jewell. He served as a private in Colonel [Simon?] Stephen's Regiment. His file contains a deposition by Nathaniel Jewell.

ELISHA GIFFORD, RWPA #W1842. He was born in Norwich, { ] County, Connecticut in 1749. He married Polly Washburn. He once served as a subtitute for Zebulon Wright. He served as a private in Captain Comfort Ludington's Company of the Fredericksburgh Precinct Regiment of Dutchess County Militia.

He also served one topur as a substitute for Job Lewis in Captain Levi Stockwell's Company of the Dorset District Regiment of Charlotte County Militia; in which John Hunsdale was First Sergeant and Second Sergenat Thomas Miles. He was serving in Captain Adiel Sherwood's Company of Colonel Morris Graham's on October 10, 1780 in the loss of Fort Ann to the British.

BENJAMIN GRIFFIN, RWPA #W23150. He was age 63, when deposed on April 8, 1818. He married in White Plains, New York on July 17, 1785 Phebe Stenrod. He served as a private in Captain Jacob Wright's Company of the Second New York Regiment from 1776 through 1783. He states he was in General Richard Montgomery's assault of Quebec.

CORNELIUS GRIFFIN, RWPA #R4306. He was born in Fishkill Township, Dutchess County, New York November 20, 1749. He served as a private in Captain Abraham Lent's Company of Colonel Abraham Brinkerhoff's Regiment. He married on October 29, 1768. He is described as being 5'9" tall with black eyes, black hair, and a dark complexion. He was taken by the British in the October 6, 1777 loss of Fort Montgomery.

DANIEL GRIFFIN, RWPA #S37036. He was age 84 when deposed on April 17, 1818. He died on June 2, 1822. He was commissioned the captain of the First Company on the Second New York Regiment on February 19, 1776, but resigned his commission by March 15, 1777 when Captain [ ] B[ ] was promoted to major before him. His file contains his two commissions. He also served as the captain of a company in the Third New York Regiment.

JOSHUA GRIFFIN, RWPA #R4313. He died in Chenago County, New York on March 18, 1841. He served in Colonel [ ] Livingston's Regiment.

KIRTLAND GRIFFIN, RWPA #S43647. He was age 65 when deposed on October 11, 1819. In early 1777 he was serving aboard the "Sally" an American Privateer under the command of Captain France Brown, and was captured by the British 64 gunner "Norsuch" and held in a prisoner near Plymouth, England until sometime in 1779. After his release he made his way to France were he enlisted aboard the American Frigate "Alliance" under the command of Peter Landyes in May of 1779. He states the "Alliance" was a part of Captain John Paul Jone's Squadron and that he was present at the capture of British 44 Gunner the "Serapis".

SAMUEL R. GRIFFIN, RWPA #S22802. He was born in Lyme Township, Connecticut on August 30, 1767.

SAMUEL R. GRIFFIN, RWPA #S22802. He was born in Lyme Township, New London County, Connecticut on August 30, 1760. He died August 21, 1836. He served as a private and as a substitute for Nathan Griffing of Lyme Township, in Captain Simeon Allen's Company of Colonel John Mead's Regiment; Nathan Griifing being an invalid. Others in Allen's Company were Joseph Chubb, Nathaniel Roland, Sergeant William Collins and, David Jolewon. He in 1781 he served in Captain Josiah Burnham's Company of Colonel [ ] Ledyaid's Regiment of Connecticut Troops at Fort Griswald. Others in Captain Burnham's Company were Corporal Elkananh Jones, James Bloss, Joseph Bloss, and Danniel Irlman.

DAVID GRIFFING, RWPA #S31711. He was born in Southold Township, Suffolk County, New York, a son of Captain Daniel Griffing. He had a sister, Sarah, who married a Mister Guinall. He served as a fifer in Captain Daniel Griffing's Company of Colonel James Clinton's Regiment. His file contains a deposition by Rufus Paine.

STEPHEN GRIFFING, RWPA #W19549. He was born in Southold Township, Suffolk County [on Long Island], New York and was age 78 when deposed on August 6, 1832. He married June 3, 1781 in Rhinebeck Flatts [Township?], New York on Elizabeth Ule. He died at Athol in Warren County, New York on March 1, 1841.

ABNER GRIFFIS, RWPA #S13199. He was age 78 when deposed on March 6, 1834. He served as a corporal in the companies of Captains Samuel Shaw and Caleb Bentley of the Fourth Rensselaerwyck District Regiment of Albany County Militia. [His file is too light to read on microfilm].

JAMES GRIFFIS, RWPA #R43421. He was a son of Peter Griffis of Albanil. His file states the Griffis Family arose from Wales where they were called the Griffiths. He married in Athens Township, Greene County, New York on either June 7th, 1783 or June 13th, 1783 Catherine Fralick, a daughter of Baron Fralick. He died in Lincoln County, Upper Canada on either December 18, 1836 or December 18, 1837 and was buried in Grantham Township, Upper Canada. He served in the Walkill District Regiment of Orange County Militia. He also served in Captain Jacob Wright's Company of the Second New York Regiment. His file contains a deposition by Joseph Codington. [His file is too light to read on microfilm].

STEPHEN GRIFFIS, RWPA #S15160. He was born in Norwalk Township, Connecticut on June 18, 1749. He served as a sergeant in Captain John Lampman's Company of Colonel Henry Van Rensselaer's Regiment of Albany County Militia. He states he served tours at Old Hoosick, Saratoga, Passin Kill, and Fort Edward. He states Old Hoosick is now known as Petersburgh in Rensselaer County, New York. ELI GRIFFITH, RWPA #R4324. He was born in Middlebury Township, Massachusetts on March 9, 1750. He speaks of the death of General [ ] Baum. He mentions his services at the Half Moon Battery. The orderly sergeant of his Captain Waldron's Company of Colonel [ ] Walbridge's Regiment of Vermont Militia was Samuel Sunderland. His file contains depositions by John Tanner and Ebenezer Farnsworth.

WILLIAM GRIFFITH, RWPA #S13195. He was born at Oblong in Dutchess County, New York in 1760. He served as a private in Captain John Smith's Regiment of the Second Claverack District Regiment of Albany County Militia. His file contains depositions by Lydia Green and Silas Green.

JAMES GRIFFITHS, RWPA #R4321. He was a son of Peter Griffis from "Albanil", Wales. After the Revolutionary War the family surname was changed to "GRIFFIS". He married, per a record in Athens Township, Greene County, New York on either June 7 or June 13, 1783 Catherine Fralick, a daughter of Barona Froelick of Freehold Township, New York. He died on either December 18, 1836 or December 18, 1837 in Lincoln County, Canada and was buried in Grantham Township, Canada.

Lavina Baisley states she saw Peter performing his duties in Lamb's Regiment in 1780.

His file contains documents contemporary to his service including one signed by Colonel Pierre Van Courtlandt.

He speaks of the following hangings during the Revolution: [ ] James, a spy, and a deserter at Rudding, Connecticut; and, a spy named [ ] Paine at North Salem. His file contains depositions by Martin Mead and Joseph Benedict.

He died in Cohorton Township, Steuben County, New York on April 1, 1832. Martha Bennet was born on April 7, 1756. He served as a private in Captain Joseph McCracken's Company of the First New York Regiment from 1777-1783. He fought in the Battle of Monmouth. He next enrolled aboard the 14 gun Brig "Hector" as a First Mate under the command of Captain James Selcover, and which was captured by the British Frigate "Iris" in the spring of 1779. John Wood states he served with Benjamin in Captain Samuel Raymond's Company of Colonel Nichol's Regiment of New York Troops in 1776.

SAMUEL KETCHUM, RWPA #W1195. He was born in Bedford Township, Westchester County, New York in 1754. He married in Half Moon Township, Saratoga County, New York on April 10, 1801. He died in Maryland Township, Otsego County, New York on October 26, 1849.

EDWARD KEYSER, RWPA #S42772. He was age 60 when deposed on July 5, 1820. He served as a private Captain Samuel T. Pell's Company of the Second New York Regiment.

ALEXANDER KIDD, RWPA #W20333. He married in Montgomery Township, Orange County, New York on October 1, 1783, Coziah Ann Brunbridge. He died on Governor's Island, New York City, New York in June of 1815, while serving under Colonel [ ] House. He served in Colonel James Clinton's Regiment. His file contains depositions by Samuel L. AARON KING, RWPA #R5947. He served as a drummer in Captain Amos Dodd's Company of Colonel Philip Van Courtlandt's Regiment. He fought in the Battle of Springfield in 1780, and was wounded in the right hand by a cannon ball. The cannon ball which wounded him also killed a Mister Smith and Harmanus Brown. His file contains a deposition by Isaac Dood [sic:Dodd?].

PHILLIP KING, RWPA #W12083. He was born in West Greenwich Township, Kent County, Connecticut. He married in Muntz Township, Cayuga County, New York on February 10, 1831, Rebecca Dodge. He died on November 28, 1854. He served in Captain Leonard Bleeker's Company of the Third New York Regiment.

WILLIAM KING, RWPA #S29274. He was born in West Grenwich Township, Kent County, Rhode Island and was age 76 when deposed in 1832. He served as aprivate in Captain David Van Ness' Company of the First New York Regiment. He fought in the Battle of Monmouth and in the Siege of Yorktown.

He served as a private under Lieutenant Nathaniel Gove Company of Colonel Huntington's Regiment of Connecticut Troops. And, as an ensign in Captain Munson's Company of Rhode Island Troops. JONATHAN KINNER, RWPA #S37131/BLWT #7349. He was age 70 when deposed on June 15, 1820. He served as a private in Captain Samuel Sackett's Company of the Fourth New York Regiment in February of 1777 served until the end of the war. His file contains a deposition by Captain Caleb Brewster. His file contains a discharge signed by George Washington.

 

GRIFFIN KINYON, RWPA #S42770. He was age 84 when deposed on April 2, 1818. He served as a private in Captain Jeremiah Miller's Company of Colonel Joseph Vose's Regiment of Rhode Island Troops and witnessed General Johnny Burgoyne's surrender.

JAMES KIP, RWPA #R5982. He was in born in New York City, New York on December 20, 1750. He served as an artificer for six years under Colonels Chever and Radock. He married on March 10, 1774 Cornelia Ryckman. He died in Johnstown Township, Montgomery County, New York on November 19, 1834. James states he played an important role in breaking up a British attempt to kidnap Baron Von Steuben at Fishkill and received a lieutenancy for his actions. JAMES KIP, RWPA #R5983. He was in born in Rhinebeck Township, Dutchess County, New York in 1752. He served as a private in Captain David Van Ness' Company of Colonel Morris Graham's Regiment. James states that Van Ness' noncommissioned officers were First Sergeant Jacob Cole and Second Sergeant Christopher Waldorph. He performed duties in Ulster, Westchester, and Dutchess Counties in New York.

PETER KIP, RWPA #W3262. He was age 64 on June 15, 1818. He married in the home of his bride's father in Buffalo Township, Perry County, Pennsylvania on November 30, 1790 Margaret Finton, a sister of James and John Finton. He served as a sergenat in Captain Sebastian Bowman's Company of Colonel John Lamb's Regiment of Artillery for seven years.

He fought in the Battles of White Plains, Monmouth, Germantown, Brandywine, Trenton, Princeton, and Yorktown. His file contains a deposition by his brother-in-law John Finton.

AMOS KIPP, RWPA #S33358. He was age 57 when deposed on October 24, 1820. He enlisted. on March 4, 1782 as a private in Captain Henry Dubois Company of the Second New York Regiment.

STEPHEN KIRBY, RWPA #S23287. He was born at Cowneck in Oyster Bay (Hemstead) Township, Queens County, New York on February 1, 1749. He married Mary [ ] who was born in November of 1749. His file contains a Family Bible Record. He served as a private in Captain David Hobby's Company of of the Middle Regiment of Westchester County Militia [Colonel Thomas Thomas's Regiment]. He also served in the regiment of Colonels Gilbert Budd Junior. His file contains the following documents: 1. A pass dated Northcastle August 12, 1781 and signed by Justice Peter Lyon allowing Stephen to transport a cow from Bedford to his home at Northcastle. 2. A pass dated Northcastle February 20, 1783 and signed by Justice Peter Lyon allowing Stephen to transport a cow from Bedford to his home at Northcastle. 3. An April, 1786 pay receipt signed by Peter Lyon. 3. A receipt signed by Daniel Tripp on November 26, 1789. 4. A receipt signed by Daniel Tripp on May 24, 1771 and witnessed by Albert Ogden. 5. A license to sell liquour dated November 8, 1785 and signed by Supervisor Abel Smith and Supervisor Peter Lyon. 6. A receipt dated September 20, 1784 and signed by William Martine. 7. An agreement with Andrew Sniffen and Blacksmith Benjamin Casten signed on April 24, 1805. His file contains depositions by Jotham Carpenter, Nehemiah Sailis, and James Stephens.

He served in Captain John Hasbrouck’s Company of Colonel Levi Paulding’s Regiment of Militia. At a place called “Ochwaga” by the Indians on the Susquehanna River..

William Scutt states Kline served as a substitute for Francis Braser and that he, Kline, served as a substitute for William Sil[ ].

AUGUSTINE KLUMPH, RWPA #R6006. He died on January 16, 1837. He was a brother of Catherine (Klumph) Hall. He served as an express rider during the war. His file conatins a deposition Catherine Hall.

BENJAMIN KNAP, RWPA #S13674. Benjamin Fuller states he and Knap were taken by the enemy at Fort Ann in 1780. His file also contains a deposition by John Katheway.

SAMUEL KNAP, RWPA #R6014. He was born in Rockland County, New York and was age 81 years, four months, when deposed on March 18, 1840. His brother, David Knap, states Samuel served a one year tour as a Batteaumen. He states he served in Captain Cooley's Company of Colonel Undy Hay's command. His file also contains depositions by Solomon Knap, George Persell, and Samuel Gurnce.

He served as a private in Captain John Jackson's Company of Colonell Samuel Drakes's Regiment and in Colonel William Allison's Regiment. He marched to Peen Pack when it was burnt by Joseph Brant. Selah Arnout states his, Selah's, brother was an orderly sergeant.

JONATHON KNAPP, RWPA #W15921. He married in Crumpond, New York on December 10, 1779 Mary Odell, sister of John Odell and Elizabeth (Odell) Wheeler. He died in winter of 1815 of Country or prevailing fever and was buried at Tarrytown, Westchester County, New York. He served as an ensign in Captain Gabriel Requaw's Company of Lieutenant Colonel [ ] Hammond's Regiment. He served as the captain of a company batteauman at Stony Point in 1778. His file contains depositions by Benjamin Acker, John Odell, Samuel Young son of Joseph Youngs, William Van Wart of his company, and Abraham Hitchkock.

JOSIAH KNAPP, RWPA #S13666. He was age 76 when deposed on July 28, 1832. He served in Colonel [ ] Nichol's Regiment as a private in 1776. He also served as a private Captain [ ] Townsend's Company of Colonel [ ] Luddington's Regiment in 1777. He served in the Fort Montgomery Theater. His file contains a deposition Josiah Hinckley.

LEBBEUS KNAPP, RWPA #S23293. He was born in Fairfiled County, Connecticut on June 21, 1754. His family migrating to Haverstraw Township, Rockland County, New York New York in 1767. He died in Haverstraw Township, Rockland County, New York on March 14, 1835. His widow died in Haverstraw Township, Rockland County, New York on September 16, 1837. He served as a private in Captain William Kear's Company of Colonel Anne Hawk Hay's Regiment. He states Captain Kear was transferred to the Comissary's Department in April of 1777 and was replaced as company commander by Derick Acker. His file contains depositions by fellow servicemen Richard Dikins, Joseph Wood, Eli Philips, and Anthony Blancher.

ABRAHAM G. LANSING, RWPA #W15840. He was born in the City of Albany, Albany County, New York on December 11, 1756. He married in Schagitoke Township, Rensselaer County, New York on April 9, 1779, Susanna Yates. He died on September 5, 1834. It is stated he served under General Philip Schuyler.

HENRY LANSING, RWPA #W20423. He was Watervliet Township, Albany County, New York in 1763, a brother of Abraham Lansing, Jacob Lansing, and Hannah Lansing. He died at Cirero, New York on January 26, 1833. He married in Hoosick Township, Rensselaer County, New York on either November 7 or November 17, 1793, Dolly [ ]. His widow was born in Kinderhook Township, Columbia County, New York and February 10, 1856. Hannah Lansing married on in Hoosick Township, Rensselaer County, New York on either November 7 or November 17, 1793, Valkert Van Hoosen. Abraham Lansing married Polly [ ]; Polly was born in Half Moon Township, Saratoga County, New York. Jacob Lansing married Hepsibah [ ]. He states he served in Colonel Robert Livingston's Regiment of Militia.

.THOMAS LENNINGTON, RWPA #W20439. He married in Scotch Plains, New York in 1775, Sarah Sickerton. He died on April 2, 1829. His wife resided during the war in Bulls Ferry, New Jersey. He served as an ensign in Captain John Nicholson's Company and took part in attempting to capture ____ Ross who was loading a vessel at Fort Ann on the Saint Lawrence River with supplies. He states they were able to take the vessel and its cargo, but were recaptured by the British and held as prisoners-of-war. Brigadier General James Clinton states on March 22, 1780, that Lennington was a sergeant in Captain Nicholson's Company in 1775. Clinton also states that Thomas was captured by the British on May 8, 1776.

ABRAHAM D. LOWE, RWPA #S13782. He was born in Saugerties Township, Ulster County, New York in 1763. He served as a private in Captain Phillip Swart's Company of Lieutenant Colonel Frederick Weisenfelt's Regiment of Levies.

PETER LOWN, RWPA #W8053. He served in Colonel [ ] Paulding's Regiment in the south-eastern New York Theater.

HENRY LOWNSBERY, RWPA #S13774. He served in of the Middle Regiment of Westchester County Militia [Colonel Thomas Thomas's Regiment].

LOCKARD LUSE, RWPA #W3350. He served in Captain Henry Tiebout's Company of the Third New Regiment.

STEPHEN LUSH, RWPA W15926. He died on April 19, 1825. He married in the home of the Reverend Barent Vrooman in the City of Schenectady, Schenectady County, New York on December 9, 1781, Lydia Stringer. Lydia was a daughter of Surgeon General of the Northern War Department Samuel Stinger, and a niece of the Reverend Barent Vrooman. Lydia died on August 10, 1841. Stephen served as paymaster and aide-de-camp under General Philip Schuyler and was amongst those taken prisoner in the siege of Fort Montgomery in 1777. He was exchanged by the enemy for Henry Cuyler, Esquire in 1778. After his return to the colonies, he served as the paymaster of the Fifth New York Regiment. His file contains numerous letters from Governor George Clinton, one of which, dated March 26, 1783, authorizes him to began proclaiming the new peace publicly.

JOHN LUSK, RWPA #W21591. He served in the Second New York Regiment. His file contains depositions by Oliver Brown and John McGinnis of the Second New York Regiment.

JOHN LYNCH, RWPA #R6548 [DGB:10]. He died on June 17, 1827. He states he fought in the Battle of Long Island, New York.

JOHN MABB, RWPA #W18466. His marriage record reads: John Mabb geboren in mannor Livingston met Seveth Cromwel geboren Horseneck in Connecticut en beyde wont [ ] oudor Schenectady Bevestight Jany: 9. 1785. He died on January 16, 1826. He served in Lieutenant Colonel Yates' Regiment.

CORNELIUS MABIE, RWPA #S13825. He was born in Orange Township, Rockland County, New York on March 17, 1754. He served in the companies of Captains John Blauvelt, William Sickle, John Hogenkamp, and Isaac DeForest of Colonel Anne Hawkes Hay's Regiment.

JOHN MACK, RWPA #W9901. He was born in Warwasing Township, Ulster County, New York in 1756. He married in Warwasing Township, Ulster County, New York on January 1, 1791, Sarah [ ]. She was born on September 11, 1765. He served in Captain Johannes Hardenburgh's Company of Colonels Levi Paulding and Albert Paulding.

BAPTISTE MALBEUF, RWPA #S46533. He served in Captain [ ] Labontes' Company of Colonel [ ] Livingston's Regiment.

JACOB MARRIQUART, RWPA #S23392. He was born on May 26, 1764. He served in Captain Andrew White's Company of Lieutenant Colonel Frederick Weisenfelt's Regiment of New York Levies.

THOMAS MARTIN, RWPA #S13876. He was born in Beekman Township, New York on November 20, 1752. He served as a second sergeant in Captain James Rosencranz's Company of the Fifth New York Regiment as a substitute for his brother Gershom Martin. He also served in the companies of Captains William Clark and Captain George Brinckerhoff's Company of Colonel Smith's Regiment. His file contains depositions by David Amin and Isaac Simpson.

DANIEL MARTINE, RWPA #S22890. He was born in Clarkstown Township, Rockland County, New York on November 3, 1762. He served as a private in Captain Jacob Onderdonk's Company of Colonel Anne Hawkes Hays' Regiment of Militia. His file contains depositions by Lieutenant Resolvert Vanhouton and Abraham Garrison.

DANIEL MARTINE, RWPA #R6981. He served as a lieutenant in Captain Nathaniel Scribner's Company of Colonel Henry B. Livingston's Regiment [the Fourth New York Regiment] in January of 1777. His file contains a deposition by Thomas Martine.

WILLIAM MARTINE, RWPA #W19853. He married early in the war, Elisabeth Fisher. He died in September of 1828. He served as a private in Captain William [ ]'s Company of Colonel James Hammond's Regiment of Westchester County, New York Light Infantry. He was wounded in the private parts (he lost a testicle) in a battle at North Castle on May 2, 1780 for which he received an Invalid's Pension. His file contains depositions by Margaret Miller, John Foster, John Lynch, and Samuel Young.

ABRAHAM MARTLING, RWPA #W18473. He was age 55 when deposed on April 17, 1818. He married in a ceremony performed by James Requa, the minister of the Reformed Dutch Church of Mount Pleasant, Westchester County, New York on November 28, 1784, Freena Romer. He died at Tarrytown, New York on January 11, 1841. He served as a private in Captain [ ] Sheffinor's Company of Colonel [ ] Armong's Regiment. His file contains a deposition by Betsey Hitchcock.

ABRAHAM B. MARTLING, RWPA #S____. He served as a private in Captain [ ] Smith's Company of Colonel Morris Graham's Regiment. His file contains a deposition by Andrew VanOrden.

DELIVERANCE MARTLING, BLWt #13436. He served as a private in Colonel Moses Hazen's Regiment.

BENJAMIN MARVIN, RWPA #S40963. He was age 82 when deposed on June 22, 1820. He served as a captain lieutenant in Captain Daniel Griffin's Company of Colonel James Clinton's Regiment. He fought in the Battle of Saratoga on September 19, 1777 and was wounded in the Battle of Bemis Heights on October 7, 1777. He resigned as the captain of company of the Fourth New York on April 24, 1778 as a result of illness; this illness is described as Janders which afflicts his back. His file contains certificates signed by Colonel Henry B. Livingston and Surgeon William Wood of Salem, New York.

MATTHEW MARVIN, RWPA #S42920. He was age 56 when deposed [ ]. He served as a private in Captain [ ] Wright's Company of the Second New York Regiment. He fought in the Battles of Fort Ann and Snooks Kill. His file contains a deposition by Lavinus Lansing.

SAMUEL MARVIN, RWPA #R6986. He was born in Oxford Township, Orange County, New York in 1746. He served as a private in Captain David Marvin's Company of Colonel [ ] Armstrong's Regiment. He assisted in the building of Fort Putnam. He served in Captain [ ] Whitteray's Company of Colonel Zebulon Butler's Regiment. He was ill within Fort Plymouth in the Wyoming Valley on July 4, 1778 and fled the fort by raft to Northcumberland . He also states several women who had been scalped were brought to Northumberland and that some of the victims survived.

SETH MARVIN, RWPA #W17098. He was age 77 when deposed on February 13, 1828. He married in Norwalk, [ ] on December 31, 1788. He died on July 7, 1836. He served as a sergeant in Captain Daniel Griffin's Company of Colonel James Clinton's Regiment in 1776 and 1777. His file contains a discharge signed by Brigadier General James Clinton. His file contains depositions by Lieutenant Nathaniel Norton and Samuel M. Fitch.

GEORGE MASON, RWPA #R7003. His file contains an original pass signed by Captain John Wiley of Colonel [ ] Jackson's Regiment of the Massachusetts Line (frame 0704). Frames 0705-0735 of his file contain an original diary.

JAMES MASON, RWPA #S36064. He served in Captain James Gregg's Company of the Third New York Regiment, as well as in Colonel John Lamb's Regiment of Artillery.

JEREMIAH MASON, RWPA #R6996. He was born in Somerset County, New Jersey in 1765 or 1766. He fought in the Battle of Johnstown as a private in Captain Peter B. Tierce's Company of Lieutenant Colonel Marinus Willett's Regiment. William Wallace states he remembers seeing Mason in the Battle of Johnstown.

MATHEW MASON, RWPA #S13867. He served in the Green Mountain Boys.

ABRAHAM MASTEN, RWPA #S29312. He was born a brother of Lieutenant Cornelius Masten. He served as a private in Captain [ ] Rose's Company of Colonel [ ] Hardenburgh's Regiment and fought in the Battle of Long Island in 1776. He served as a corporal in Captain Jacob Conklin's Company of the Fifth New York Regiment; in 1778 he was promoted to Orderly Sergeant.

EZEKIEL MASTEN, RWPA #R7013. He was born in the Town of Shawangunk, Ulster County, New York on February 4, 1763, a son of Johannes Masten and a brother to Sarah Masten Terwilliger. He served as a private in Captain [ ] Moody's Company of Johannis Jansen's Regiment. His file contains depositions by Jacobus Swartout and Sarah Terwilliger.

JACOB MASTEN, RWPA #S28802. He was born on December 20, 1760. He died on June 4, 1852. He served as a private in Captain Mathew Johnson's Company of Colonel [ ] Hardenburgh's Regiment. He mentions Sergeants James Chambers; [ ]; and, Quarter Master Elnathan Sears.

MATHEW MASTEN, RWPA #W2220. He served as a private in Captain William Westfall's Company. He mentions Lieutenant Albert Roosa. His file contains depositions by George Wright, William Terwilliger, Joseph Potter, John Martin, Abraham Sack [sic], and Willett Linderman.

EZEKIEL MASTIN, RWPA #S28801. He was born in the Town of Shawangunk, Ulster County, New York on February 4, 1763, a son of Johannes Masten. He also filed for a pension as Ezekiel Masten [see RWPA #R7013]. He served as aprivate in Captain Johannes Jansen's Company of Colonel [ ] Cantine's Regiment. His file contains depositions by Jacob Vankruna [sic], and Peter V. Terwilliger.

MATTHEW MAUS, BLWt 1063-400. He served as a surgeon in the Hospital Service throughout the war.

ALEXANDER MCMECHAM, RWPA #W17112. He was born in Ireland in 1758. He served in Captain [ ] Faulner's Company of Colonel [ ] Hardenburgh's Regiment. His file contains depositions by John Bell, Hesekiah Woodward, and Abraham Vosburgh.

WILLIAM MCMENNES, RWPA #S43734. He served in Captain John H. Wendell's Company of the First New York Regiment from 1777 through 1780.

JOHN MCMICHAEL, RWPA #S13889. He was born in New Windsor, New York on November 16, 1760. He served in the Hudson Valley Theater in Colonel [ ] McLaughry's Regiment. He also served a tour at Peen Pack.

HENRY MCNEAL, RWPA #S42935. He served as a private in Captain Lewis Dubois' Regiment of Colonel James Clinton's Regiment from July, 1775 through 1777.

DANIEL MIERS, RWPA #S13933. He was born in Morris County, New Jersey in 1757. He served in Captain Jackson's Company of Colonel [ ] Hatfield's Regiment of General Putman's Brigade. He also served a tour in Captain Westfall's Company. He served throughout the war in the Orange County, New York Militia. He states he fought in the Battle of Minisink, which occurred on July 22, 1779. He is also noted to have served at Peen Pack.

BASIL MIGNAULT, RWPA #R20405. He states he served a tour in the Fourth New York Regiment in 1776. He was once taken a prisoner by the British. John Baptist Caysaux states he served under Basil in the Fourth New York Regiment.

JOHN MERRELL, RWPA #R7129. He served as the captain of a company of Colonel [ ] Dye's Regiment and fought in the New York City Theater.

SIMEON MERRELL, RWPA #S9406. He served in Captain [ ] Mills' Company of Colonel Seth Smith's Regiment.

DAVID MOREHOUSE, RWPA #R7367. He was born in Springfield Township, Essex County, New Jersey in 1753. He took part in the Canadian Expedition. He was wounded in the right hand during the Battle of Springfield. His file contains a deposition by Susan Morehouse.

SAMUEL MOREHOUSE, RWPA #R7366. He was born in Fredericksburgh Township, Dutchess County, New York on March 6, 1764. He served as a private in Captain William Calkin's Company of Colonel [ ] Swartout's Regiment. He fought in the Battle of White Plains. He served as a teamster under Captain Ashbill Porter of Colonel Undy Hay's Corps for three years. His file contains depositions by Reuben Hibberd, Janna Griswold, Amassa Scot, and Isaac Morehouse.

STEPHEN MOREHOUSE, RWPA #S29330. He was born in Norwalk Township, Connecticut on July 16, 1746. PETER MUNDIN, RWPA #W5153. He served for two years as a musician in Lieutenant Colonel [ ] Nichols' Regiment.

ANDREW MURRAY, W26282. He married in the home of George Stone in Princetown (now known as Duanesburgh), Schenectady County, New York in 1779, Janet Allen. He died on September 1, 1824. He served in Captain Andrew Fink's Company of the First New York Regiment. His file contains a deposition by Captain Andrew Fink which calls Murray, Andrew Morrow.

He married in a ceremony performed by the Reverend Eliphalet Raymond on July 6, 1775, Elizabeth [ ]. He died in Pike Township, Wyoming County, New York on March 19, 1834. Elizabeth died on April 25, 1848. He served in Captain Benjamin Warner's Company of Colonel Whiting's Regiment. His file contains depositions by Benjamin Bristol and Lucy Raymond.
